Bumbles
Template:Trollbox This model is playable only in an Unlimited format.
There once was a bear named Bumbles. He loved to play, frolic, and tumble. He’d find new friends and protect their rear ends, without a single grumble. Bumbles friends were the best. They armored his head, hands, and chest. When it was time to “play,” Bumbles would slay to appease his friends’ request. When all their food was gone, Bumbles stopped following along. He wandered through snow, finding new friends to know, and with them he’d belong. Yes, there once was bear named Bumbles. He loved to play, frolic, and….

Thoughts on Bumbles
Bumbles in a nutshell
Bumbles is a combat solo powerhouse. Countercharge with his Pitch bite can be devastating to your opponent, so they must always play around it. He has a great defensive profile but will still fall to boostable guns quite quickly.
His ability to ambush in and threaten models 14” from either board edge (natively, so ignoring the Northkin Elder or spells) and hitting with the force of a low budget heavy Warjack is why you bring along the bear of very little brain and very big fists. Because of his output your opponent cannot ignore him and should be forced to play in a way to avoid him; weakening their scenario presence.
Combos & Synergies
- Krielstone - armour 21 in melee isn’t to be sniffed at and he loves both CAs.
- Madrak1 - Counter Charging from behind a wall of Trollkin Champions is amazing and Tactician and Madrak enables you to do exactly that.
- Madrak2 - help the bear has gone berserk!
- Grissel1 - a great target for boundless charge
- Pyre Troll a +2 to melee damage rolls and continuous fire on a models with three initials? Sure!
- Hooch Hauler - +1 to hit from Veteran leader
- He is a great fire end forget missile under Madrak3's Battle Lust spell thanks to Advance Deployment, Weapon Master and 3 initials.
Drawbacks & Downsides
- No defensive tech against shooting and Trollkin Warders aren't in Storm of the North to protect him, Ambush is the only thing stopping him getting shot..
- most melee solos struggle to win back their points as they are often squashed after a round of combat; pick your target and try to trade up.
- He is in 1 theme (which already has lots of ambushing options)
- He can't be a Requisition option.
Tricks & Tips
- You won't always Ambush Bumbles, sometimes it is better to have him advance with the main bulk of your force under the protection of a Krielstone.
- the threat of Bumbles in Ambush is often just as good as his actual attack, as he can charge anything within 14 of a board edge.
- Ambush into the back arc of something for improved hitting potential
- then save pitch for the final attack and you can hopefully throw your intended target closer to your battle lines.
