Template:Legbox Template:4P

Speaking in the tongue of a mad seer, the Truthbearer prophesies destruction for the enemies of Everblight. His burden oozes a miasma of blighted energies that corrupts all that it touches. Graven with runes whose true purpose was lost with the fall of the Black Kingdom of Morrdh, this is the Malihedron. Ammok’s madness shields him from its power, and he chants deranged prayers as he marches into battle holding it aloft.

Thoughts on Ammok, the Truthbearer

Ammok, the Truthbearer in a nutshell

Ammok is a utility support warlock attachment. Being locked in the Primal Terrors theme he does not compete with the other attachment, the Succubus. He brings 4 things onto the table and each can be very valuable in certain matchups, or completely dead abilities. Consider Ammok's usefulness accordingly:

  • Rise - Ammok usually forms the middle of your Ogrun brick, synergizing both with the Ogruns' natural Tough and the Vengeance theme benefit.
  • Unbinding - Extremely useful if you expect potent enemy upkeeps to be targeted against your valuable units, like Rebuke, Crippling Grasp or you can catch an enemy unit in an occasional Unbinding range to strip upkeeps and animi like Arcane Shield or Spiny Growth.
  • Spiritual Conduict - +2" extra range on your spells, not only for offensive ones but also if you need to hot-swap valuable upkeeps.
  • Exorctist - The nightmare of Incorporeal casters and solos like the Feralgeist, the Gremlin Swarm or the Machine Wraith, though you will rarely be close enough to stop them from scoring unpunished. It is more against Incorporeal assassins, like Deneghra2's feat, or Blackbane's Ghost Raiders, and severely limiting their mobility through terrain and other models.

Combos & Synergies

  • Anamag the Doom Feaster, Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight and Thagrosh2 - are Blighted Ogrun Warlocks with the Tough rule. Anamag notably grants fellow Ogrun Feign Death, meaning that if they succeed their Tough rolls, they cannot be shoot until they Rise, upon which they get to make their Vengeance movement.
  • Lylyth, Shadow of Everblight - Lylyth has Range Amplifier, which can be cumulate with Spiritual Conduit for a range 17" Pin Cushion, without moving.
  • Warmonger Warchief - makes him Mat 7, and grants blood drinker, which is useful only if you want a throwaway pow 12 Charge in the late game.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Absolutely abysmal DEF that may be a trouble with his occasional high priority target status
  • Unbinding does not protect you from offensive spells that last for a round, like Mortality, Puppet Master, Deadweight or Breath Stealer.
  • Knocked down models frequently just get killed, before they get to Rise (although synergizes well with Anamag and 'Bond of Gristle & Bone' spell. Feign Death helps prevent getting killed when knocked down).

Tricks & Tips

  • Exorcist does not turn your weapons to Magical - it just lets you to hurt Incorporeal models that could be hurt only with such weapons otherwise. See Magic vs Magical.
  • Keep him back with the caster to prevent Incorporeal Assassinations.
