Blighted Ogrun Warmongers
Brutal ogrun tainted by blight and bred for slaughter, warmongers suffer from twisted visions of madness and rage. Only in battle do they find true release, and they cleave through friend and foe alike with savage delight. The blighted Nyss distrust them, but this matters little to the warmongers. Only glorious slaughter in the name of Everblight holds any promise of surcease from their tortured lives.
When he first received the blight, Gorag suffered a ceaseless blinding pain in his right eye. After three days of agony, he gouged out his own eye in a rage, leaving a bloody wound that would never heal. His transformation bestowed a different gift to compensate—the gaping socket now emits a wicked, blighted radiance. All who fall under his withering gaze become enervated, as blighted energies radiate through their bodies.

Thoughts on Blighted Ogrun Warmongers
Blighted Ogrun Warmongers in a nutshell
While the Warspears are the ranged elements in the Primal Terrors lists, and the Chosen are your beefy linebreakers, the Warmongers excel at charging in and slicing low/medium infantry with frightening ease with their 2" reach Berserker attacks. Discounting every support but their character UA they'll hit at an effective MAT 10 on the charge, which will only go higher if you utilize other buffs.
They are not very resilient when compared to other multi-wound infantry models in the game, but the Vengeance theme benefit along with their innate Tough ability (and the Rise aura from Ammok) forces enemies to deal with them at once, or not bother them at all.
Thoughts on Gorag
The main drawback of the Warmongers were the lack of Pathfinder, which is now more or less amended by Gorag to make your alpha strike connect. He also gives 2" extra movement on mini-feat turn and an always-on +2 to-hit buff - not only for your unit, but with clever positioning for the rest of your army as well. On mini-feat turn that gives a total 15" non-linear threat range (with Vengeance) and with the help of the Warmonger War Chief a potential MAT 11 on the charge. That's either a hell of a lot of Berserk attacks mulching infantry swarms, or even a dead enemy caster.
He's also a little expensive - but he's free in Primal Terrors and you almost certainly weren't going to play him outside Primal Terrors anyway.
Combos & Synergies
- The Warmonger War Chief is the second de-facto "Command Attachment" for these guys beside Gorag. His Veteran Leader ability with Gorag's Paralyzing Gaze translates to a +3 MAT fixer, making effectively Butcher-level fighters out of the Warmongers. His Blood Drinker also helps to keep your Berserk attack at bay, before hitting friendly models.
- Blightbringer - The cornerstone of the theme's support engine, his blighted aura and AoE can vastly improve your Ogruns' offensive power and defensive measures alike.
- Golab - Things like Tough or Self Sacrifice can block your Berserk chain. Having an Etropic Force aura around will shut down these tricks.
- Blighted Rotwings - Jam them in, if there isn't enough MAT fixing around.
- Hellmouth - If the enemy shoots your Hellmouth, your Ogruns can advance up on him unopposed. If he concentrates on your Ogruns, it will trigger Venceance, plus the Tentacles can draw closer key enemy models to your frontline. Win-win.
- Anamag - It cannot be stressed enough, but Anamag was purposefully designed for this theme. Quite literally, no other caster can run better an Ogrun brick than she does.
- Blight Archon - He also has Veteran Leader, just note is does not stack with the Warchief's. It also has Dragon's Blood to make the Ogrun beefier.
- Bethayne2 - Transmute is a great spell on pretty much anything, but even more so on models with already great stats. Also as multi would models they meld well into the Flesh Web.
- Kallus2 - On his feat turn he makes them super fast and Battle Lust makes them even scarier offensively.
- Kallus1 - Ignite and Dark Guidance make them them better on the offense and on feat turn they spawn Incubi when they die.
Drawbacks & Downsides
- Pathfinder is only available for a single unit, and only during charges - and the favored casters in the theme rarely fix that issue. Look out for enemy casters and warlocks who can mess around with terrain (Irusk1), charges (Stryker2 or zerkova1) or cancel Pathfinder altogether (Baldur1, etc).
- Berserk can end up in fratricidal attacks without proper positioning, or if you don't have living targets for Blood Drinker.
- If not advancing under concealment and/or the Blightbringer's ARM aura, their average defensive stats will cause them to suffer a lot of damage while closing in on the enemy.
Tricks & Tips
- If you expect Berserk attacks that will strike at your own models, first send an incorporeal solo into its perceived melee range (a Gremlin Swarm, or a Feralgeist). The Warmongers can hit them, and will cause no harm, if they did not turn corporeal, or you turned their cleavers into magic weapons.
- You want to charge, but the Blightbringer cannot reach your Warmongers with its aura? No problem. Shoot an AoE into their target's general direction, and with good scatter you can create a patch of blight, where your Warmongers can stand and have the same benefits as in the aura.
- If you don't want to rely on scattering, use a cheap model (like a Rotwing, or the above mentioned incorporeal solos) as a homing beacon for your shot.
