No Doom Reaver can match the horror of Fenris. He rides to war atop a nightmarish steed wielding a pair of fellblades and spurs other Doom Reavers to even greater acts of savagery. Few men have the courage to stand before this terror, and trophies from those who try now decorate Fenris' belt.

Thoughts on Fenris

Fenris in a Nutshell

Fenris takes being a Doom Reaver up to a whole new level, with a mount, more lethal abilities and TWO friggin' Fellblades!

Fenris is a powerful dragoon and a ton of fun to play. He's worth fielding with the Reavers thanks to his Leadership ability, but even by himself he kicks serious butt when you get him into melee, which should be soon due to being mounted. On top of that, he's a nice-looking, flavorful character that brings a unique vibe to the field.

Combos & Synergies

  • Doom Reaver Swordsmen, should be obvious.
  • He also grants Rise to Zerkova2's pet henchmen, which is a nice little bonus.
  • Sorscha1 can freeze a bunch of enemy models solid, which Fenris can then impact through to stack up his Blood Quenched. Stationary models can't Tough, so you won't risk Fenris getting stopped by an unfortunate Tough roll. The combination of Rise and Fog of War on Doom Reavers is also very nice, since even elite shooting sometimes misses DEF 15, and even if they hit there is a one in three chance they Tough, if they then don't dedicate a second shot to finishing of a Tough Domm Reaver, they will just Rise and shine during your turn like nothing happened. This makes it so your opponent has to dedicate way more guns to killing and finishing off your Doomies than otherwise necessary, needing two or sometimes even 3 shots to kill one model worth 1.7-1.9 points is not great value for your opponent.
  • Vladimir2 - Arcane Might is really, really good with a fast Weapon Master on a horse with lots of initials and Berserk. Wind Blast protects him from shooting, as well.
  • Vladimir3 - Oh boy... Good ol' Fenris becomes an absolute beast under Vlad3's feat, if you manage to deliver him into infantries (for which Wind Wall seems purpose-made). An ideal activation looks like that:
    1. Under Dash and Vlad's feat you can charge something up to 14" away.
    2. On your way you may deliver POW12 impact attacks with 2d6 on the attack roll (or 3d6 if you're running this combo in Warriors of the Old Faith which gives Line Breaker), each kill contributing to Blood Quenched.
    3. Reaching your charge target you deliver a P+S 12 + 4d6 Grievous wound hit with 3d6 on the attack (plus your impact attack).
    4. Whether you killed or not, you can sidestep 2". If you're still in Vlad's control range, this'll ignore free strikes too.
    5. Provided your target survived, you deliver your second initial.
    6. After your second initial you side-step again, and make Berserker attacks if eligible.
    7. Then you may Sprint wherever you wish with a 8" move (9" that ignores free strikes if Dash is in play).
    8. Does that sound good? Don't forget that ANY kill you scored throughout your rampage may contribute to Blood Quenched, easily putting you near or even above ARM 20, and allowing you to hit your final targets with the strength of a heavy warjack.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Compared to other Khador cavalry models his durability is low, he can be shot off the board fairly easily, and due to spell ward his stats can be buffed only indirectly.
  • Cost the same as a Void Archon in the Wolves of Winter theme force and as much as a Menite Archon or Champion of the Order of the Wall in Warriors of the Old Faith, and almost the same as a full unit of Doom Reaver Swordsmen, but has less attacks. He also lacks means to stop fratricidal Berserker attacks due to the absence of Silence.
    • On the same note he has built-in solution against Tough that standard Doom Reavers would need their UA for.

Tricks & Tips
