What General Ledfoot and his trusty tank pilot Tredz lack in stature, they make up for in firepower. Christened “Madtrak” in honor of their late chieftain, the weapon of mass destruction at Ledfoot’s command is guaranteed to cause opposing crews to make tracks!

Thoughts on Ledfoot & Tredz

Ledfoot & Tredz in a nutshell

It's a mid-ranged artillery-style solo that's also not afraid to get into melee. With Bulldoze, pathfinder, and Repo 3 it's way more mobile than traditional artillery. Ledfoot also brings the incredibly useful Ride Along ability, and lastly Vet Leader for other tanks.

In comparison to the non-character Pyg Tank you're paying +2 points and gaining +1 MAT/RAT, Ride Along, Veteran Leader, and auto-knockdown on the treads (instead of critical knockdown). Ride Along alone is probably worth the upgrade for the tactical versatility.

Combos & Synergies

  • Anything that knocks targets down so they can fire their Trash cannon at them. So, War Wagons, Thumper Crews, Grissel2, Grim1, Brun & Lug, any war beast that does a slam power attack, you name it.
  • Pyg Tanks, naturally as they are their Veteran Leader, stacked with Mark Target in Kriel Company, they become quite accurate shooters.
  • Rask can put Fury on them, since its not a STR buff it increases the damage on your Point Blank attacks.
  • Jarl - Arcing Fire goes very well with Hunter from Weald Secrets.
  • Any powerful small or medium based models - e.g. the Slag Troll, a fully loaded Boneswarm, or combat solos like Boomhowler3 can make excellent use of 2" extra threat range.
  • General 'Thunderstone' Brug grants lets him move through other Pygs as well as +1 Mat and +1Rat from vet leader (remember same names abilities don’t stack for other Pyg Tanks) he can also offer a speed buff, allow Ledfoot to dig in and can improve his gun further with Deadly Precision.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Expensive and can't be taken as a requisition option.
  • Ride Along doesn't work for anything larger than a medium base.
  • it’s output in melee is only ok vs knockdown immune targets.
  • it’s melee threat range is actually pretty poor.

Tricks & Tips

  • Point Blank and Trash stack together nicely. Charge a target, first make an attack with the Treads to knock them down, then attack with the cannon to benefit from the Trash bonus.
  • Bulldoze and Ride Along gives you much freedom in manipulating scenario and threat ranges.
  • Ledfoot's Veteran Leader [Pyg Tank] does not stack with General Brug's Veteran Leader [Pyg] (ie non-character pyg tanks stay at +1, they don't go to +2). However Brug does give the bonus to Ledfoot.
  • They do not generate souls or corpse tokes by the virtue of being constructs. It's easy enough to forget in a Troll army so make sure you remind your opponent if they want to collect some tokens off of your tank.

Trivia

  • Released 2019.11
  • The solicitation text, "... Christened “Madtrak” in honor of their late chieftain, the weapon of mass destruction ...", refers to Madrak, Great Chieftain (if it wasn't already obvious).
