Stories have power, particularly the great epics, and the elder stone scribes who record such tales can relate them to warriors to restore their spirits. The influence of these tales is such that nearby trollkin draw an uncanny strength from them: mists cloak the warriors, their muscles surge with vigor, and their reflexes flash with unnatural speed.

Thoughts on Stone Scribe Chronicler

Stone Scribe Chronicler in a nutshell

The other warrior support solo for Trolls (alongside the Fell Caller Hero), the Chronicler protects from shooting, protects from melee - or just makes the Trolls hit harder and more accurately.

It’s difficult to talk about this model without comparing it to the Fell Caller Hero the advantages the Stone Scribe has over his counterpart is it's dirt cheap cost, half that of it's musical brother. But it isn't as easy to get full use out of the effects, due mostly to the clauses being niche or requiring active participation from your opponent.

Other than that he has average stats all round and while cheap enough to warrant throwing into melee in that late game he doesn't really want to be there if he can help it.

Combos & Synergies

  • Fennblades are probably the best unit to put his buffs on. Concealment and quasi-Feign Death are pretty handy on the approach and then you can use No Quarter to jam like nothing else and punish attempts to unjam with Hero's Tragedy.
  • Farrow Commandos have prowl and tough a great combo for concealment and feign death.
    • Madrak3 can also put Defender's Ward on them for DEF 16 and hand out Blood Lust to make the Fenns really scary, too.
  • Because it’s usually never worth it to dedicate an upkeep spell to a support model you mainly want infantry warlocks with Ctrl effects that help mitigate the middling defensive profile of this model. Madrak1, Calandra and Horgle2 spring to mind
  • The Dire Troll Brawler has 2" reach meaning it can tag a lot of models with Charge of the Trolls. This also goes for all of the gargantuans, which cover an even bigger part of the board.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • It's easy to get too much "support bloat" where all your models are helping others kill stuff and there's not enough to actually do the killing.
  • Little personal combat potential.
  • It's CMD range is puny.
  • Charge of the trolls is deceptive as it’s based on the melee range of the warbeast. Unless the beast has reach you will likely only be able to fit 2 or 3 bases close enough to get the effect - secondly unless you are unjamming something like a Dire Troll Bomber so it can make ranged attacks it is questionable that buffed infantry will do more damage or hit more accurately than a troll warbeast which has access to boosts
  • Power of Dhunia has very few infantry options that was worth dedicating 4 points of support to.
  • Knock down immunity ruins one of his three stories.

Tricks & Tips

Put hero's tragedy on your skirmish unit that you know are going to die. Put Veil of Mists on Models with Prowl - Farrow Commandos in VoD are some of the best targets.
