Boil Master & Spirit Cauldron

The boil master is terrifying to look upon as he stirs his spirit cauldron, a large cast-iron pot full of a bubbling, sickly soup of melted fat, body parts, and blood. The boil master feeds this cauldron a steady supply of dead and dying meat in order to coax forth the feral spirits of decay and death, happily chopping up any who draw near lured by the fragrant smell of the stew.

Thoughts on the Croc Pot

Croc Pot nutshell

A support unit for models who use corpses (like Barnabas, Lord of Blood or Gatorman Bokor & Bog Trog Swamp Shamblers). He also can be used as an expensive but reliable spot removal tool, with his boosted hand cannon that can push people toward him ; boosting to hit with base magic 7 mean he often have >50% odds of killing an engaged infantry model. And d6" of extra threat range is really nice utility.

Combos & Synergies

• The Boil Master is one of the free options for The Blindwater Congregation
• The Sacral Vault and the Spirit Cauldron between them work on a waste-not, want-not principle as one gets the corpses the other the souls.
• Basically, every reference that need corpses tokens: Gatorman Bokor & Bog Trog Swamp Shamblers, Midas, all male Tharn models, Death Archons, Barnabas, Lord of Blood, Spawning Vessel.
• Bethayne1 lets it boost an offensive Puppet Master without spending tokens on feat turn.

Drawbacks & Downsides

• Shoot the Gator and the Cauldron can't move. This can severely limit the unit's effectiveness, especially with a caster like Barnabas, Lord of Blood who wants to move up the table.
• Or just shoot the cauldron - it's large based with a very low DEF but can admittedly take a pounding.

Tricks & Tips

• All three abilities are good - use whichever is appropriate.
• Remember, it's the Cauldron that is the model doing all the work, including being the Officer. For stuff like Spell Vortex, be careful where you put the Cauldron.
• The Cauldron has Pathfinder. The Boil Master, however, does not.
