Drawn from settlements on the fringes of the wilderness, the Wolves of Orboros willingly offer their strength of arms to the Circle. Every Wolf is an accomplished fighter as well as a master woodsman, trained to wield a heavy cleft-bladed spear with fluid mastery.

Wolves of Orboros in a Nutshell

Wolves of Orboros are circle's cheap conscript infantry. Cheap with a decent move (faster with Pathfinder) and an effective charge. They can be given the unit attachment to make them better jammers and to make their charge hit harder at the cost of making them cost the same amount as a veteran unit. You get what you pay for, and what you are paying for is cheap skirmishers.

Combos & Synergies

  • Wolf Lord Morraig has both Flank and Veteran Leader with them.
  • The War Wolf can sic'em on anything they charge.
  • Una the Skyhunter and Mohsar can give them apparition, making them that much faster and able to jam the enemy.
  • The Wild Hunt theme gives a single unit ambush.
  • in a steamroller some scenarios really favour an ambushing unit to contest points. Investing in a min unit solely for this purpose can be effective

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • They don't hit hard without the minifeat
  • The Sentry Stone & Mannikins are even cheaper infantry
  • They are easy to shoot.
  • Circle casters lack the defensive spells this unit needs to prevent them from being massacred by anti infantry tech. Bauldur1 has stone skin but the -1 def is more detrimental than the +2arm is effective. Morvahna1 is better but there are better Restoration targets in faction (Tharn).

Tricks & Tips

  • They are fast, cheap and have long reach. They are best served getting into melee as fast as possible and ruining your opponent's plans.

Other

Trivia

  • Resculpted in 2015 and now come in a multi-kit with the Reeves of Orboros. The kit builds 9 grunts and 1 leader of each type (11 models total)
  • Base unit released way back in Primal Mk1 (2006)
  • CA released in Hordes: Evolution (2007)
