Bloat Thrall
The bloat thrall is crudely assembled from the bodies of half a dozen men with no regard for anatomy, only usefulness. Necrotechs then select as many as a dozen humans and animals to be skinned alive in order to provide the epidermis necessary to cover these monstrosities. The flesh, left uncured, is stretched over the thrall's mechanikal skeletal armature. Finally, the disgusting necromantic construct is fitted with a thick iron valve mounted directly into its bowels. Before each battle, massive storage tanks are latched to the valve and their bodies are pumped full of caustic sludge. The bloat thrall is an abomination in both form and function, and the armies of the living are wise to fear it.

Thoughts on Bloat Thrall
Bloat Thrall in a Nutshell
Ranged combat solo that plays more akin to an artillery piece. Also basically a big fat Bile Thrall. With a 16 inch threat range on an Aoe gun they can do work, but they are so slow that positioning to get that shot off can be an issue, but at only two points this isn't a major problem.
Combos & Synergies
- They kind of need Mobius.
- Anything that can help them shoot better and hit harder.
- Aurora1 in Strange Bedfellows greatly improves their threat range. On feat turn after shooting you can also escape backwards for another round of shooting
Drawbacks & Downsides
- Not a great model for its points cost.
- The lack of speed really hurts in a game as aggressive as Warmachine.
- It's not great at shooting. It's trying to be a shooty model in a non-shooty faction.
- Fragile. Don't be fooled by their 8 HP and ARM 14. They will die to any two direct hits and with DEF 10, even the most inaccurate model will hit them on average dice.
- Death blast isn’t that great, because the enemy models won’t actually take corrosion damage until next turn if the enemy killed it.
Tricks & Tips
- Activate and shoot it first, before charging your army in. Otherwise you're likely to drift AOEs on top of your own troops.
