Nothing delights Rengrave more than killing, plunder and the terrifed faces of the living as his men board a ship to plunder it and sink it to the deep. In past centuries he was told to restrain his appetites and strike only as dictated by the lich lords. Rengrave has the power to add names to his register and capture new prize ships to add to the Ghost Fleet to swell the ranks of revenants as required. He captures the living and gives them a choice: they can join his crew and be transformed, or they can die.

Thoughts on Captain Rengrave

Captain Rengrave in a Nutshell

The leader of the Revenant Crew and the mainstay of The Ghost Fleet Captain Rengrave is the Revenant that buffs Revenants. If you have revenants you want him, if you don't you don't.

Combos & Synergies

  • Revenants. Pretty obviously. Remember they include Blackbane's Ghost Raiders although he's not worth it to just support them.
  • The Ghost Fleet in which he's a requisition option. This is the normal place you'll see him and the entire undead pirate army.
  • Agrimony has Tactician for Revenants, which is very helpful for order of activation problems with Rengrave. She allows him to stay surrounded by Revenants and still push forward into battle through them to add more bodies to the ranks. Then, again thanks to Tactician, The Revenants can move around Rengrave to reach their targets and provide him meat shield protection once more.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • He needs Revenants to useful.
  • Call To Sacrifice can be prevented by either preventing healing (with Entropic Force for example), or by killing him with damage that does not come from an attack (like Electro Leap).

Tricks & Tips

  • With Call to Sacrifice he's pretty resilient. Play him forward to use his Veteran Leader.
  • Remember that with Assault he threatens 21" with a RAT 6, POW12 gun.
  • If you can trigger Gang Fighter, Rengrave can drop a POW12 Assault shot and two effective MAT9, POW15 strikes on a target. That is really close to the average damage output of Bane Lord Tartarus
