Thoughts on PAGENAME
PAGENAME in a nutshell
A decent cheap shooty jack that might manage four shots in a turn. This is not a waste of focus due to induction, but it wouldn't be a viable jack in any other faction.

The Tesselator is a dedicated ranged light that puts out a fairly high quantity of ranged attacks (2 initials, each with Reload [1] = 4). While stronger against larger targets thanks to Volume Fire, the Tesselators can still harass light infantry decently. With two chances to spend focus on Reload, and multiple opportunities to boost attack or damage rolls, a group of Tesselators should be incredibly focus efficient via Induction, as long as you keep them all close enough to one another. Reposition 3 and flight allows you to induct to your melee vectors while keeping out of retaliation range.

Although the Tesselator was designed by PP to work in groups like the Negator don’t feel obligated to do so, it’s value comes from being reliable in its induction of 3 focus which all other ranged lights in faction struggle to do. It’s key limiter is the average to low RAT of most Convergence casters and it’s average to low POW.

Combos & Synergies
Caster Synergies
* Iron Mother Directrix : One of the best casters to run Tesselators with due to the range increase from Fire Group and the damage bonus from her Exponent Servitors.
** The range increase means the Tesselators can do more of what they love and pump large volumes of fire into targets while staying out of harm's way. 11" range with the 3" reposition means they can be 14" away from their target after dumping 4 attacks on them, which should keep them relatively safe from most charging opponents.
** If the Exponent Servitors put Imperil on a Heavy Warjack, preferably one with relatively low armor, then the Tesselators will be shooting it with 4 POW14 shots each. Against something like an Ironclad the Tesselator shots are dealing damage on a 5+, add a Void Archon into the mix for another -2 armor and suddenly these 7 point light jacks are shooting significantly above their weight!
*** This is especially true on Feat turn where the Tesselators will be effectively RAT10 against large models. Landing a Flare and an Imperil on a high-DEF low-ARM heavy like a Warp Wolf on Feat turn will let a couple of Tesselators eat it alive from range.
*** With a handful of Tesselators, Backlash, and enough Elimination Servitors you could theoretically kill a caster in one turn of shooting at a knocked down heavy, which would be hilarious.
** Being RAT 8 on Feat turn is amazing for this jack, the odds of hitting vulnerable infantry goes way up and lets those 4 shots each really shine. When shooting small-based infantry the Tesselator wants to be hitting things that die to POW10 shots and those tend to have higher defense, but with a few Flare applications the Tesselator starts mulching evasive targets pretty effectively.
** Directrix makes her jacks Arc Nodes and having a SPD7 Arc-Node with Flight is very useful, letting you get threats for spells you wouldn't otherwise be able to manage with Convergence's other, much less mobile jacks.
* Archnumen Aurora can do similar things to her mother. Her feat is a flat +2 damage buff to their shooting against non-flying models and she can give them Flying High to keep them safe from shooting. Hand of Destruction further enhances their out put. She doesn't give them extra range on the guns but her feat gives them +2 SPD, so it evens out.
* Eminent Configurator Orion is the premier ranged Vector caster in Convergence even if the Tesselators already have Reposition. Rat 7 most of the time is just very good, Mage Sight and Spellpiercer both cancel a lot of defences, and his feat helps them either burn a lot of enemies in a turn or burn down a few selected heavies with focus fire.
* Syntherion a weird target for Hot Shot as it still won’t crack heavy army but with 4 shots with a good damage boost it can do a lot to other lights and infantry. On feat turn you can charge it in early to stack Synergy then continue the hot shot barrage directly at the enemies face.

Other Support Synergies
* Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex : With the addition of the Induction Relay ability the Tesselators can move forward, shoot, induct focus 9" away back to the other Tesselator/s it's running with, and then reposition back as long as an ADO ran up to where you want them to be shooting from first. Without this ability, the Tesselators are unable to move their full SPD forward to get into range without moving out of induction range of the other Tesselators that want to be able to move up and shoot with it. It also allows them to flank just a bit harder without taking chunks of focus out of the main army's induction chain, which is hugely important.
* Attunement Servitors : Flare is great for helping all shots hit.

Drawbacks & Downsides
* They don't want to be in melee at all.
* With DEF 13 and ARM 15 it’s quite easy to hit and quite easy to hurt
* Most Convergence casters give them mediocre RAT so they aren't great at hitting small targets.
* POW 10 or even 12 when unboosted tends to bounce off large targets. This means that they are really looking for a ranged damage buff (although they can make excellent use of one).

Tricks & Tips
* Tesselator atacks are generally mediocre. You normally want to boost more than you buy unless you've set up buffs (or are shooting something with Ancient Shroud).
* Like all Vectors they should be run as "focus neutral" passing on the focus they get to the next target.
* A flying ranged warjack is very easy to set up as a link in the focus chain or even use as a focus caddy.
* if you can’t shoot - slam it’s more efficient than being in melee

Dual Attack
Dual Attack

This model can make melee and ranged attacks in the same activation. When this model makes its initial melee attacks, it can also make its initial ranged attacks. A model with Dual Attack can make its initial melee and ranged attacks in any order you choose. This model cannot make ranged attacks after making a power attack.

Errata-Dual Attack and Unit Charges (2023-10-27)
Question: If a unit with Dual Attack charges a single model, are all placed in melee range, and the first model kills the charge target, can the remaining members of the unit make ranged attacks, or do they forfeit their Combat Action because they don't have any enemy models in their melee range?
Answer: The check for melee range is done at the end of movement. If you kill the targets before they attack, they can still do their ranged attack. (Malkav13)
Explanation: This post is correct.
Infernal Ruling: elswickchuck (Bulldog) - PP Community forum

Errata-Dual Attack and Special Attacks (2023-08-10)
Question: Can a model with Dual Attack make any combination of ranged special attack and normal melee initial attacks, or its melee special attack and normal ranged initial attacks? (Example: Bison Both Barrels and Ram, or Mariner Thresher and gunshot).
Answer: No.
Explanation: The bison can not use dual attack and also make a special attack. That is correct in that (Thresher) example too.

Flight
Flight
This model can fly.
  • Interaction with terrain:
    • Treat storm terrain as rough terrain while advancing.
    • Treat all other non-impassable terrain as open terrain while advancing.
    • Obstructions can be advanced through if the model has enough movement to move comletely past the obstruction.
    • Obstructions can be moved onto if the obstructions are large enough to accomodate the flying model's base.
    • Models without flight ignores the continuous effects from the following hazards, unless they become knocked down within the hazard:
      • Acid Bath
      • Burning Earth
  • Interaction with other models
    • Other models can be moved through if the flying model has enough movement to move completely past the other model.
  • Interaction with power attacks
    • Ignore intervening models when declaring the flying model's charge target.
    • Do not stop its movement when it contacts an obstacle, obstruction, or another model while charging, slam power attacking, or trampling.
    • Unintential movement is not advancing (pushes slams). This way, a model with flight can be slammed into an obstruction.
  • Other effects

  Errata-Razor Wall (2023-12-28)
Question: Does a model with flight still take damage going over a razor wall?
Answer: Yes.
Explanation: Because Flight does not state a specific interaction with Razor Wall, and Razor Wall does not state any specific interaction with Flight, one can safely conclude that there are no special interactions. A model with Flight will suffer the damage point if it enters or ends its activation in the area of the wall template.
Infernal Ruling: Unofficial Answer - PP Community forum

Construct
Construct
This model is a construct, and is not a living model.

Reposition
At the end of this model/unit's activation in which it did not run or fail a charge, this model can advance up to 3 inches, then its activation ends.

Pistol

A model making an attack with this weapon targeting a model it is in melee with ignores the Target in Melee bonus when resolving this attack.

  Errata-Pistol (2023-09-17)
Question: Does the pistol benefit apply to models not in melee with the attacking model when the pistol is on a spray?
Answer: No, it only applies to models with which the attacking model is in melee.
Explanation: The intent is that a model only ignore the penalty for being in melee with the models that model is in melee with. Pistol only works against the models in the melee with the attacking model.

Warjack Rules

Convergence of Cyriss warjacks are called vectors. While being a "Vector" isn't a gameplay rule, the Convergence warjacks do carry some additional rules of their own that set them apart from normal warjacks.

Interface Node
  1. This model has an interface node instead of a cortex, represented by the I boxes on the damage grid.
  2. This model gains focus, and can have no more than 3 points at any time.
  3. This model can spend focus only during its activation.
  4. This model cannot gain or spend focus while its interface node is crippled.
  5. This model is immune to effects that cause a warjack to suffer damage directly to its cortex.
  6. This model is immune to effects that require a warjack to have a functional cortex.

No errata for Interface Node (Create)

Warcaster Dependent MAT and RAT
  1. This model's MAT and RAT are equal to the current MAT and RAT of its controlling warcaster.
  2. This model does not directly benefit from MAT/RAT bonuses, but any alteration to a controlling warcaster's MAT/RAT will be passed along to this model.
  3. Effects that affect attack rolls will affect this model normally.

No errata for Warcaster Dependent MAT and RAT (Create)

No Power Up
This model does not power up and does not automatically gain a focus point for being in the controlling warcaster's control range during the Control Phase.

No errata for No Power Up (Create)

Force Induction
When this model spends a focus point during its activation, you can give a focus point to another warjack with an operational interface node if the two are in the same battlegroup and are within 9 inches of one another. This does not override the Interface Node rule limiting the warjack's focus points to 3.

No errata for Force Induction (Create)
