Thoughts on the PAGENAME
PAGENAME in a nutshell
Monitor serves as sniping vector and cheap all-rounder. Its ranged attack has the range to pick off solos, True Sight allows it to see through the Stealth that solos commonly have, and it's strong enough to bang up enemy lights. It's no slouch in melee, assuming it hits the enemy as Sustained Attack can make up for only having 1 initial.

It’s slow and if it’s just using its gun it’s not likely to do more than scratch armoured targets. Ricochet is punishing to support models and the threat of hitting a valuable model can often dictate a lot of your opponents positioning - however if all the Monitor does is go solo-hunting it will take several turns to "earn its points back".

Combos & Synergies
*Iron Mother Directrix is arguably the best 'caster to run Monitor. She has the focus to run him, Fire Group increases his range to crazy levels, Imperil means he can put the hurt on heavies, and her feat means he rarely misses.
* Orion offers the highest base RAT on a turn-by-turn basis, Spellpiercer is also a nice thing to have when you are pillow-fisted. His feat also offers appropriate boosts for whatever you are targeting and you can escape away again with Reposition.
: Unfortunately there are some anti-synergies with Orion
:# Ricochet doesn't stack with the Avenging Force spell, at all.
:# Ricochet doesn't stack with the Magic Bullet spell. The first shot will get Magic Bullet'ed, not the Richochet shot.
:# The Minotor doesn't really need the Mage Sight spell since it already has True Sight.
* Syntherion - Hot Shot lets you focus on accuracy not damage, but it does mean you will not be inducting 3 focus.
** apart from on feat turn, asDual Attack lets you strike deep into the action and go vs heavy targets. Synergy is just a generally great spell in this situation especially with sustained attack.

Drawbacks & Downsides
* It's slow
* It's slightly pillow-fisted with only P+S 17 in melee, P+S 13 at range. It struggles to trade vs other heavies and is better off bullying lights and solos.
* Shield Guards can really mess with your Richochet options (although you will always be able to redirect to your original target)

Tricks & Tips
* If you are trying for a full three focus induction chain always boost the first to hit roll from the Monitor - you need the ricochet to spend three.
* Snipe those solos. Even the ones you can't see if they are near something you can.

Trample Power Attack
Trample Power Attack
This model can make a trample power attack.

Dual Attack
Dual Attack

This model can make melee and ranged attacks in the same activation. When this model makes its initial melee attacks, it can also make its initial ranged attacks. A model with Dual Attack can make its initial melee and ranged attacks in any order you choose. This model cannot make ranged attacks after making a power attack.

Errata-Dual Attack and Unit Charges (2023-10-27)
Question: If a unit with Dual Attack charges a single model, are all placed in melee range, and the first model kills the charge target, can the remaining members of the unit make ranged attacks, or do they forfeit their Combat Action because they don't have any enemy models in their melee range?
Answer: The check for melee range is done at the end of movement. If you kill the targets before they attack, they can still do their ranged attack. (Malkav13)
Explanation: This post is correct.
Infernal Ruling: elswickchuck (Bulldog) - PP Community forum

Errata-Dual Attack and Special Attacks (2023-08-10)
Question: Can a model with Dual Attack make any combination of ranged special attack and normal melee initial attacks, or its melee special attack and normal ranged initial attacks? (Example: Bison Both Barrels and Ram, or Mariner Thresher and gunshot).
Answer: No.
Explanation: The bison can not use dual attack and also make a special attack. That is correct in that (Thresher) example too.

Construct
Construct
This model is a construct, and is not a living model.

No errata for Construct (Create)

Steady
This model cannot become knocked down. ‎

No errata for Steady (Create)

True Sight
This model ignores cloud effects when determining Line of Sight (LOS). This model also ignores Stealth.

Ricochet
When this model directly hits an enemy model with an attack with this weapon, immediatly after the attack is resolved this model can make another ranged attack with this weapon targeting another model within 4 inches of the model originally hit, ignoring LOS and this weapon's RNG. Attacks gained from Ricochet cannot generate additional hits from Ricochet.

  Errata-Ricochet (2024-3-30)
Question: Ricochet interaction with Shield Guard?
Answer: The following cases can happen.
  • A. The model you attacked is hit and doesn’t die. You get a Ricochet.
  • B. The model you attacked is hit and is destroyed. You do not get a Ricochet.
  • C. You attack a model, some effect like Shield Guard or Sacrificial Pawn changes the model hit, if that new model doesn’t die, you measure from it and get a Ricochet.
  • D. You attack a model, some effect like Shield Guard or Sacrificial Pawn changes the model hit, the new model is destroyed, you don’t get a Ricochet.
Explanation: You can’t measure from a model that is no longer on the table. Ricochet occurs after the attack is resolved, which would be after the model is removed from the table.
Infernal Ruling: Dark Legacy - PP Community forum

Throw Power Attack
Throw Power Attack
  • This weapon can be used to make Throw power attacks.
  • A warjack cannot use this weapon to make a Throw Power attack if this weapon is crippled.

No errata for Throw Power Attack (Create)

Sustained Attack
During this model's activation, when it makes an attack with this weapon against the last model hit by the weapon this activation, this attack automatically hits.

No errata for Sustained Attack (Create)

Warjack Rules

Convergence of Cyriss warjacks are called vectors. While being a "Vector" isn't a gameplay rule, the Convergence warjacks do carry some additional rules of their own that set them apart from normal warjacks.

Interface Node
  1. This model has an interface node instead of a cortex, represented by the I boxes on the damage grid.
  2. This model gains focus, and can have no more than 3 points at any time.
  3. This model can spend focus only during its activation.
  4. This model cannot gain or spend focus while its interface node is crippled.
  5. This model is immune to effects that cause a warjack to suffer damage directly to its cortex.
  6. This model is immune to effects that require a warjack to have a functional cortex.

No errata for Interface Node (Create)

Warcaster Dependent MAT and RAT
  1. This model's MAT and RAT are equal to the current MAT and RAT of its controlling warcaster.
  2. This model does not directly benefit from MAT/RAT bonuses, but any alteration to a controlling warcaster's MAT/RAT will be passed along to this model.
  3. Effects that affect attack rolls will affect this model normally.

No errata for Warcaster Dependent MAT and RAT (Create)

No Power Up
This model does not power up and does not automatically gain a focus point for being in the controlling warcaster's control range during the Control Phase.

No errata for No Power Up (Create)

Force Induction
When this model spends a focus point during its activation, you can give a focus point to another warjack with an operational interface node if the two are in the same battlegroup and are within 9 inches of one another. This does not override the Interface Node rule limiting the warjack's focus points to 3.

No errata for Force Induction (Create)
