Theme - The Blindwater Congregation
This mk3 Theme Force is somewhat similar to the mk4 Legacy Army. If you're planning on starting a mk4 Blindwater Congregation army you may get some use out of this article, espcially the In a Nutshell, the Theme Weaknesses, and maybe even the List-Building Tips sections. |
The Gatormen of Blindwater lake are the core of a vast reptilian cult dedicated to its self-made deity, Bloody Barnabas

Thoughts on The Blindwater Congregation
Blindwater in a nutshell
This theme force is the Gatorman and allies subset of minions - the Blindwater army led by Barnabas, and essentially it's the infantry theme for the currently functional half of Minions. (If you want a beast theme use Will Work for Food). It has some excellent heavy infantry in the Gatorman Posse, some good skirmishy shooting from the Croak Raiders, and a nice range of utility.
Theme weaknesses
- You don't hit that hard without your wrastlers and this is an infantry theme. Warlocks can fix that, of course. And most do from Dark Shroud (Barnabas2) to Signs & Portents (Jaga-Jaga) to Fury (Rask) to Mortality (Maelok) to Parasite (Calaban).
- The theme is pretty restrictive and only really buffs the Gatorman Posse; if you don't intend to run those, always consider the more open Will Work for Food Theme Force instead.
- Beyond your battlegroup and Croak Raiders you are really limited in terms of shooting options
List Building Tips
Considering the Theme Bonuses, the most obvious list to build in Blindwater Congregation includes as many units of Gatorman Posse as you can take, as the Theme Benefits are pretty massive for them. From there, the most obvious support pieces will be Captain Crawtooth for the sweet No Knockdown bubble.
The most obvious caster choice for this list is Maelok, as he supports this list particularly well by raising their armour level to crazy levels (up to ARM22 in melee) and allowing you to combo with other great support pieces like the Gatorman Witch Doctor.
While not benefitting from any Theme bonuses, it's also possible to build a potent gunline from the unit choices available. 2 units of Croak Raiders and one or two Sacral Vaults will be the base of a list that will be particularly efficient against infantry.
Jaga-Jaga and Calaban support this particularly well by increasing the lethality of the army choices.

Warlock thoughts
- Bloody Barnabas is the only warlock without a damage buff. Everyone else works.
- Maelok the Dreadbound is almost always seen in this theme, and his current list of choice starts off with four full units of Gatorman Posse - which he makes ARM 20 vs melee, or 22 on feat turn for one of the grindiest lists in the game. He also brings a Gatorman Witch Doctor or two to speed everyone up.
- Jaga-Jaga, the Death Charmer and Calaban the Gravewalker are the two warlocks likely to play the croak raiders ranged game thanks to Signs & Portents and Parasite respectively.
