After his defeat last season, Malvin (that wretch) fled from the smoldering ruin of his previous schemes and the victorious heroes who had bested him. Protected by his custom-built hazard suit and weaponry, Malvin scoured the wintertime wasteland for and opportunity to get back at the do-gooders. Luckily for Malvin, and unluckily for the rest of the world, he stumbled upon the Malignant Fusion of Karchev & Deathjack in the wastes and led them right to those who had done him wrong.

Theme Forces

The Mastermind rule makes listing theme forces for Malvin a bit intricate. The main thing is that, as of 2020.08, every Faction can get access to a Gobber except for Convergence, Retribution, and Grymkin. Mercenary & Minion armies have the most Gobbers, and Cygnar have fairly easy access to Gobbers.

Malvin2 in a nutshell

Malvin2 is armed with a powerful freeze ray and had some shenanigans to get into a good location with Creeper, he has some awful match ups being unable to do anything versus cold immune enemies. But when you need to set up as assassination there are worse ways than a point blank aoe freeze.

Combos & Synergies

  • Grim2 - Snipe and Mark Target from the feat are both excellent abilities for him, as it lets him freeze fools from far away.
  • Gunnbjorn2 - Malvin gets to hide out in a foxhole and on feat turn the AOE does full damage on blasts. Bring it Down lets you fire the freeze gun a second time a turn.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • No melee weapon, meaning no charges, and no attacks at all if ranged attacks are shut off for him.
  • If you take him you cannot take Malvin & Mayhem and vice versa. Then again casters who want them don't really want Malvin2 and vice versa.
  • As a ranged solo, he is pretty unremarkable compared to his peers. You take him if you want to freeze some fools, and that's it.

Tricks & Tips

  • Remember his gun is magical, so he can remove the odd Gremlin Swarm from the table, or freeze a Protectorate jack under Hymn of Passage.
  • He doesn't actually have Attack Types, so if you get a bonus attack the gun is "stuck" in the same shot type as the last time you used it.
