Based on the Ironclad chassis and heavily modified by Sancteum armorers, Gallant is a walking instrument of righteous battle and the favored warjack of the warcaster Constance Blaize. In combat Gallant wields the mighty blade Lasting Light to strike down the enemies of Morrow as dictated by the Prayers for Battle, the holy catechism mounted onto its hull.

Thoughts on Gallant

Gallant in a nutshell

Gallant is Constance Blaize's personal warjack. Gallant may be fielded by any caster playable in the Flame in the Darkness theme where they might find some use for him. He used to be best with Blaize, but now that she can't use her personal focus to boost his attack and damage rolls, there isn't much special there compared to what any other caster in that theme brings. Unless the opponent has defensive upkeeps, he's just an overpriced beater. If they do have defensive upkeeps, they might not cast them, which is a win

Combos & Synergies

Constance Blaize

• Constance Blaize, Knight of the Prophet makes him charge farther. It grants her Arcane Ward while the two are BTB. Gallant also lets Blaize flank off him.
• Putting him in Lieutenant Allison Jakes's battlegroup and putting Sidekick on it pushes his DEF to an impressive 15. If she runs Gallant and Blaize is your caster, he threats 14" with Energizer and Crusader's Call. Still, it's risky to have a squishy model like Jakes with a small control area running a 17 point heavy. If you do send him 14" up the board, you aren't getting him back.
• At DEF 13, Gallant is just the sort of jack Ashlynn1 likes to have forward on her feat turn. Especially if it's under Sidekick.
• Same goes for Fiona the Black. Accumulator also means she has more focus for spellcasting.
• Thamarite Advocates can top it off at no cost to a Thamarite caster, something all of them appreciate.
• Jakes2 turns Gallant up to 11 in the new Flame in the Darkness Theme. With Bullet Dodger, Escort, Sprint, and Positive Charge, Gallant becomes effectively DEF 15, ARM 19, Speed 7, MAT 9, P&S 20 with Purgation, Sprint, Dodge, Magic weapon, Immune to enemy spells, and Accumulator with most of the infantry in the theme. That's... pretty good.

Drawbacks & Downsides

• Expensive for a heavy warjack with no gun.
• Arguably a point too expensive.

Tricks & Tips

• None really. Fundamentally he's a simple beatstick heavy, albeit with some fancy doodads.

How can I include this warjack in my army?

Most Mercenary warjacks can go in any other Faction, as long as they're under the control of a Mercenary model.

That doesn't apply to Gallant. His "Will work for" clause restricts who he can work for. So the end result is ...

1. In the Flames in the Darkness theme, he can be controlled by anyone (who is also in that theme). His Faction type will switch to match the warcaster.
2. He can be taken in a Cygnar force
   • in which case he is a Cygnar jack and must be controlled by a Cygnar model.
3. He can be taken in a Mercenary force
   • in which case he is a Mercenary jack and must be be controlled by one of the Mercenary models listed below.
4. He cannot be taken in any other Faction
   • not even under a Mercenary Jack Marshal/Journeyman that will work for that other faction.
   • Note: There is a bug in Warroom that does allow you to put Gallant in other factions.
