Template:Circlebox This model is playable only in an Unlimited format.

Universally feared and respected within the Circle hierarchy, but not particularly liked, Krueger counts no man as friend and no druid his equal. Krueger believes the Circle has been too soft and accommodating, and only he can bring the druids back to the old days of plague, fire, and storm.

Thoughts on Krueger1

Krueger1 in a nutshell

Zap! Zapzapzapzap! ZapZap! Zap! Krueger is a lightning thrower who specialises in electrocuting infantry. When he first came out in the middle of Mark 1 he was considered one of the best warlocks in the game because Mk1 was frequently known as "Infantrymachine" and there was a notorious world championship semi-finals with three warmachine players and a Kreuger1 player where the only warjack used was the Scrapjack. Changes in Mk2 and Mk3 have made things not such a target-rich environment for Kreuger so he sees a lot less play. His main thing right now is protection from shooting and cancelling enemy cloud walls such as those from The High Reclaimer or produced by Trencher Infantry.

Maximising his feat and spells

Do you like having spells which no one else in the game shares? Krueger1 is your man!

  • Gale Winds is his main defensive spell.
  • Tornado is his main anti-armour offensive spell
  • Lightning Tendrils is a threat extender and infantry killer

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Most lists are more ARM heavy than infantry swarms although there are more than there used to be.
  • He does nothing to break armour.
  • Cygnaran Storm Knights and other lighting-resistant foes more or less ignore his offence.
  • The Circle has plenty of other ways of obliterating infantry, and at present normally prefer Wurmwood to Krueger. That said if you're having problems with cloud walls Krueger can be excellent.

Tricks & Tips

  • Cast Gale Winds before you put your own clouds into play.
    • Also, Gale Winds removes terrain pieces with a "cloud-trait" as well. Outside the ob ious smoke clouds and the like that includes Burning Earth, burning houses, burning forest - watch out for that (and read the rules clarification).
  • Bounce forked lighting off the back of your own stones (or mannikins) to hit those unhittable targets.
  • Cygnar may give you trouble due to the abundance of lightning immune models, however due to their affinity for gun lines Krueger can still play decently well into them thanks to gale winds. He can also hand out lightning immunity to a heavy or a unit, although it is rather limited.

List Building Advice

Strategy

His main method of winning is attrition, pan-frying infantry, protecting your army from shooting, and with some ability to extend threat ranges.

DEF always stacks with DEF. If you're going for protection from shooting with him you want models that already have a decently high DEF. Taking a Wold Guardian and increasing it to DEF 12 isn't going to help - but putting Warpwolves up to DEF 17 makes them almost not worth shooting at.

Theme thoughts

Template:Header

  • Gallows Grove - when Krueger isn't shutting down incoming shooting he wants to Forked Lightning and Gale Winds.

Template:Header

  • Tharn Bloodweavers - the combination of Gang, Killing Spree (provided by the Bloodweaver Night Witch), a 2" reach, and electro-leaps can lead to a whole lot of infantry annihilation in a way bloodweavers with a 1/2 reach normally don't.
  • Tharn Bloodtrackers normally really like the extra threat range and electro-leaps to shred the enemy front line and then throw spears at either the back line or their prey target.

Battlegroup

  • Woldwarden loves to Geomance Forked Lightning.
  • Storm Raptor Sky Fire is a great animus for zapping people.
    • not a battlegroup model but add Shivers to this combo on feat turn and even moderately armoured infantry can get mulched from almost anywhere.
  • Gorax Rager or Feral Warpwolf Krueger has no inbuilt way to crack armour so the Primal animus is very handy to have.

Trivia

Krueger1 was one of the original three Circle casters, released way back in Hordes Primal Mk1 (2006).
