A number of Winter Guard conscripts have trained to use rifles as part of the ongoing modernization of the Khadoran army. Those selected to join the Rifle Corps receive advanced training with their Blaustavya military firearms. When ordered by their sergeant, a Rifle Corps squad can produce a tremendous volume of fire, making an area virtually impassable to enemy troops.

Any soldier brave enough to place the colors of the Motherland before his own life is a true patriot.

Thoughts on Winter Guard Rifle Corps

Winter Guard Rifle Corps in a nutshell

WGRC, along with the Long Gunners and the Houseguard Riflemen have the longest range in the game among the ranged infantry units (if you don't count Deliverer Skyhammers). Beside having access to Practiced Maneuvers, Cygnar's troops can dual-shot and sport some extra mobility with Flawless Maneuvers, while the Retribution has ways to engage targets in melee. What do we have? Rockets! Long-range, brutal damage, small AOE rockets! With the standard long range CRA, and the potential of three rocket salvo, they can hit hard for ranged infantry. As every Winter Guard Infantry, they are pretty grateful recipients of Kovnik Joe's battle plans. They also die in droves from incoming fire, so try not to get hit by AoEs.

Thoughts on adding the WA

While the unit itself is more expensive than the Winter Guard Infantry the Rifle Corps natural RNG 14 guns have more synergy with the Rockets than a RNG 8 Blunderbuss. The Rifle Corps can still stand back at the range they want to without putting the Rockets closer than they need to be.

Combos & Synergies

Seriously, bring Kovnik Joe. Their effectiveness just skyrockets with him. Having +2 to hit and a 20 inch threat range will allow you to practically murder light infantry and give you a decent chance on damaging armored infantry. The bigger they are, the more people you should use for a combined range attack... or you could just use rockets...

Seriously... a turn with Kovnik Joe's buff, followed by a direct rocket hit on Butcher1's feat turn is enough to make something cry.

Drawbacks & Downsides

  • Die horribly even from stray AoE-s.
  • Stealth going to give you a really bad time.

Tricks & Tips

  • You can counter the above mentioned weaknesses by having Iron Flesh on them against blast, and bringing a Spriggan to flare the stealthy targets.
