Northkin Fire Eaters
Trollkin are known for their insatiable thirst for booze, but few imbibe like the nomadic fire eaters that travel the Rimeshaws. Favoring extremely potent moonshine, fire eaters spit this volatile concoction across torches to ignite the spray, resulting in spectacular fireballs. When called to battle they use their fire-breathing skills to belch gouts of flame in defense of their fellow trollkin.

Thoughts on Northkin Fire Eaters
Northkin Fire Eaters in a nutshell
The Fire Eaters are three of the very few infantry models who are capable of making boosted attack and damage rolls with sprays - meaning that they can hit the highest DEF targets behind all sorts of cover or concealment. An effective triad. They need a bit of set up to do this, either with other fire weapons or by positioning to spray each other.
Beyond this they have overall good/ok stats are cheap and have the Northkin tag, so they can gain access to a myriad of smaller faction buffs.
Combos & Synergies
- A Pyre Troll to set them on fire. However be careful with its animus. Giving one of them immunity fire means his fire immediately goes out and he'll loose the benefits of Fire's Fury. Use a Slag Troll if you want some extra oompf on a charge.
- Kriel Warrior are able to use the WA to grant Carapace, protecting them on the advance. Fire's Fury, Carpace and the Krielstone aura give them a total of +11 ARM against their own sprays or the Pyre Troll gun, so you can light them a blaze safely. Just make sure you don't set your Caber Thrower on fire accidentally.
- Horgle, the Anvil loves it when things are on fire to trigger his feat.
- Captain Gunnbjorn can provide much needed protection on the approach with his feat, even allowing them to spray each other with impunity to set up the continuous fire effect.
- Standard Northkin combos: The Hooch Hauler for Veteran Leader and Stumbling Drunk and the Northkin Elder for extra speed, the theme benefits of Storm of the North.
Drawbacks & Downsides
- Low numbers and a short threat range.
- Vulnerable to be eliminated in a single shot from average POW guns, requiring strategic placing on approach to protect them.
- On occasion, in the pursuit of lighting each other on fire or maintaining the continuous fire effect, they are fully capable of unintentionally killing themselves in a comedic and tilting fashion.
Tricks & Tips
- Use one to set the other two on fire from behind - or a Pyre Troll to set all three on fire before they attack. Ideally do this by having the Pyre Troll shoot a Troll Whelp in the back so the unit only takes blast damage and not the full POW.
- When attempting to self immolate a unit, the continuous fire effect is applied on hit, allowing a model to remain standing on a successful Tough check in case the model becomes destroyed.
- When setting them on fire they are Arm18 (vs fire) and while the krielstone is near they are Arm20 meaning they cannot die to a single fire roll regardless of how poorly you roll. On subsequent turns this will be a bigger issue.
