Thoughts on PAGENAME
PAGENAME in a nutshell
The Mangler is the premier melee heavy in mercenaries if for no other reason than there isn't anything better out there.
At MAT 6 and POW 18 it's pretty much a Nomad with a free charge, Chain Weapon and Thresher. Since most merc casters have little focus to spare, the free charge makes a difference.
The Mangler is the only jack that can charge AND use the Crush bonus when marshaled (assuming no outside help). Coupled with Flank, the marshaled Mangler is the most powerful melee platform in the faction save for the Colossals. It is quite capable of downing an ARM 20 heavy in one round with no help.
Combos & Synergies
* Jack Marshals: Dirty Meg is best due to her excellent drive and low cost. In Irregulars it hits like a truck with Flank and Crush. Or it can do a MAT 10 Thresher.
* Captain Sam MacHorne & The Devil Dogs can inflict knockdown all over the place to set up a superb Thresh attack.
* Magnus the Traitor can use Death Ward to make it very hard to disable its systems. Or Iron Aggression for scary, scary Threshers
* Magnus the Warlord Escort makes the Mangler much more likely to get free charges off or have enough control over placement to thresh multiple targets, and the Mangler likes becoming Unyielding.
* Rahera fixes its accuracy problem with Manifest Destiny and sends it screaming across the table.
* Boss MacHorne turns this thing into an absolute monster when marshaled, as with the Crush! order it is P+S 20 with an extra attack and a free charge. Dismantle lets it take on other heavy warjacks.
* Nemo4 can apply lightning shroud to make the Mangler P+S 20, and give it E-leap. Watcher allows for some Toro Level of Counterplay.
Drawbacks & Downsides
* Going up against models with high DEF it gets a bit focus hungry, though this is offset somewhat by Power Up and free charges.
* 14 points is high for a MAT 6 warjack with no gun, especially since Toros and Nomads hit at the same P+S but are cheaper, and the Mariner has a reach/thresher combination with a gun.
** the Toro especially is a scary contender vs the Mangler due to its conditional +1 armour (shield) and countercharge.
* Even when marshaled with Meg, it's a 16 point package, and it's hard to trade up with 16 points, so this is a second or third wave cleanup hitter.
* the power up mechanic makes aggressive fairly useless without a gun if you are not in charge range and aren't being marshalled
Tricks & Tips
* The Mangler was made for destroying shielded infantry and jacks, this is where it really shines.
* Iron Aggression affects each individual attack from thresher, vastly improving the viability of sending the Mangler after higher def units.

Question: Does an effect that triggers "when one or more friendly Faction models are destroyed" only trigger one time with Thresher?
Answer: It will only trigger 1 time due to thresher.
Explanation: (DASchretz - judge, not infernal) The special attack is always a single attack even if the rules contained within call for multiple attacks simply because the rules are only there to tell players how to execute the named attack; whether that be making multiple attack and damage rolls (thresher, ground pounder, etc) or simply applying something like Armor Piercing to the attack in exchange for losing your other initials. You execute all the special instructions in the attack’s description and then the 1 attack of that name is completed. That’s when you finally move into the trigger effects step of the timing chart.

After fleeing Cygnar, Magnus used looted components to assemble what he considered to be the deadliest combination of strength, ability, and durability he could afford the Mangler. Its massive wrecking ball and three-foot tempered punching spike make it as formidable as any warjack created by Cygnar's finest engineers.
