Thoughts on PAGENAME
PAGENAME in a nutshell
Fennblades are the premier single wound Trollkin melee infantry. Fast moving, hard hitting, and with Vengeance and some nice abilities from the UA to both let them move faster and to utterly wreck infantry. Great all-rounders, and the unit attachment is very good but not mandatory.
Thoughts on adding the CA & WA
The CA gives 2 inches extra charge range and ignoring rough terrain, the ability to scythe through infantry, and Reposition so you can get out of the way of the next unit or jam harder. It really is an easy sell. Be aware that because the effects from the CA are granted and will go if he dies. You need to keep him at the back of the unit until after he engages and uses his mini-feat.
Like all Troll units these models can have a Trollkin Sorcerer attached - his information has been omitted for brevity. But it’s worth considering at least one especially if you are running the CA because they gain vengeance (due to the wording), cleave, Reposition and the effects of No Quarter as if they where a standard Fennblade.
Combos & Synergies
* Stone Scribe Chronicler - their main weakness is they are easy to shoot off the board. The Chronicler alleviates this with tale of mists.
* Madrak Ironhide, World Ender - Madrak's feat plus Cleave plus their threat range with No Quarter tends to trash a lot of enemies.
* Fennblade Kithkar is their veteran leader.
* Fell Caller Hero actually adds more to their accuracy than the Kithkar and is more flexible.
* Grissel Bloodsong, Marshal of the Kriels has Dash, which really extends their threat.
* Ragnor1 likes Fennblades as a target for Pulverizer, and is more survivable on the front line under Ragnor's feat. .
* Madrak3 sticks Defenders Ward on them, and extends their threat range under his feat (conditionally). With Battle Lust, they really hurt on the charge.
* They potentially have lot of attacks to knock things down with Borka's Mosh Pit.
Drawbacks & Downsides
* Easy to shoot
* Die to a stiff breeze.
Tricks & Tips
* Use Vengeance to set up their absurd charge threat ranges.
* The Drummer can’t attack from Vengeance as he is unarmed, but he does benefit from the free move.
** If you don't like the Drummer, stick him somewhere your opponent is forced to kill him, to guarantee you'll get Vengeance next turn, but you will lose Reposition 3.

Unit Rules

A unit is a group of models that band together. They've got special deployment rules and activation rules.

 • All models of a unit are Trooper models.
  Errata-Unit-Advance (2023-12-07)
Question: When something triggers because an "advancing enemy model that ends their movement" is within a given distance something, and the enemy model advancing is part of a unit, does the trigger only affect the moving model, or does it also affect the troopers that are placed?
Answer: Only the model moved counts for triggering when something advances into an area.
Explanation: We are aware of the situation. Currently looking at what the wording of the feats should be as well as the bigger question at hand here. For now it would be just the models that actually moved, not were placed. This is just for these right now amd not looking at other aspects of unit movement. When there is any update for wording i will post. As stated until we have a wording update this ruling is applying here. So for now just the model that was actually moved and not the ones placed will be affected.

Lore

Trollkin called Fennblades calmly wait shoulder to shoulder—wicked hooked greatswords raised at the ready—listening to the approach of thundering hooves. Some duck lances to sweep blades through the legs of mounts while others swing their blades straight into the chests of the riders. The result is always the same, as Fennblades stand victorious over the bodies of the slain.

With the addition of the Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer, the Fennblades become fearless juggernauts who inspire terror in their opponents as they charge howling across the battlefield. The steady, relentless cadence of the Fennblade Drummer keeps the Fennblades moving as a single entity that can present an impenetrable wall of sharpened steel to approaching enemies or surge forward en masse to claim vengeance for a fallen brother.

Trivia

 • Released in Hordes: Metamorphosis (2009)
 • The Trollkin Kilt Lifter exclusive can be used as grunts in the unit. You could even have an entire unit of kilt lifters!
