As the infernals came for human souls, refugees fled to all corners of Caen (and beyond) to escape. Many of these refugees found themselves in troll lands. There, some were welcomed allies while others were not. No matter their allegiance to the trollkin, many of these survivors brought with them their stores of supplies, including weapons and ammo, which Brigadier General Gunnbjorn happily accepted in return for sanctuary among the trollkin.

Thoughts on Trollkin Barrage Team
Trollkin Barrage Teamin a nutshell
The Trollkin Barrage team is straightforward, but very good at what they do. They provide long range, fairly accurate shots that can either hurt multiple infantry models or CRA a single big shot into a harder target. With Casters that can give them Snipe, such as Grim 2 or Gunnbjorn 1 this unit can sit just about anywhere they want on the table and rain down death upon their enemies.
Their Barrage ability is situational, and not that strong in the current meta, unless a Warbeast or Warjack is B2B with some support models, but its still applicable against hordes of light high Def infantry if you do not want the risk of deviation.
Don't miss the fact that this unit has 5 damage boxes. It really helps them wether small arms fire. But their armour isn't that high so don't expect them to reliably survive a charge.
Combos & Synergies
Warlocks
- Grim2 brings Snipe and Mortality. We are talking RNG 20, RAT 10, POW 16 shots against Mortality-d targets here while aiming. Add in mark target from the feat and Deadly Precision and you can push this to RAT 12, POW 18.
- Gunnbjorn2 - He loves all things AOE related and Barrage teams have some of the best AOE guns available.
Non-warlock
- General 'Thunderstone' Brug - Deadly Precision is easy to use on such a long range unit.
- Krielstone - Strips Stealth and offer an ARM buff. ARM 17 isn't that much better than ARM 15, but it's something and makes them obnoxious when combined with the Hermit and an Archon for damage negates and heals.
- Hermit - A nice little ARM debuff.
- Pyg Lookouts for Mark Target.
- Any solo in Kriel Company also gains Mark Target, helping them hit.
- Gunnery Sergeant - Spyglass and Artillerist are great rules for them.
- Boomhowler3 - RNG 14" with Arcing Fire and Hoof It means nothing is safe from their shots, letting them snipe important support then back up again and be safe. On key turns he also supplies +2 to hit.
- Dhunian Knot - 5hp boxes and good guns to puppet strings makes these 2 units combo well together.
Drawbacks & Downsides
- 3 man units are rarely worth dedicating warlock support spells to.
- Not that accurate and not that powerful unless they 3-man CRA - and then you're paying 8 pts for a single attack.
Tricks & Tips
- CRA, High Explosive, and Barrage stack like this:
- No CRA: POW 14 on the direct hit, POW 10 blast damage on the 3" AOE.
- 2-man CRA: POW 16 on the direct hit, POW 12 blast damage on the 4" AOE.
- 3-man CRA: POW 17 on the direct hit, POW 13 on blast damage the 5" AOE.
- CRA, High Explosive, Barrage, and Gunnbjorn2's feat stack like this:
- No CRA: POW 14 to everything under the 3" AOE.
- 2-man CRA: POW 16 to everything under the 4" AOE.
- 3-man CRA: POW 17 to everything under the 5" AOE.
