Instructions for use

The Veteran Leader ability looks like this on the card:

  • Veteran Leader [ExampleModel] - While within X inches of this model, friendly ExampleModel models gain ExampleAbility.

Usually, the bonus is just a +1 to attack rolls. It could change, so this template is flexible. In this example, we feed the Veteran Leader the model type being affected, the distance, and the effect like so:
{{AbilityLeadership|main=Veteran Leader|model1=ExampleModel|model2=ExampleModel2|model3=ExampleModel3|d=10 inches|sub1=ExampleAbility1|sub1a=cat|sub2=ExampleAbility2|sub2a=cat|sub3=a random thing|sub3a=text}}
and it outputs like this:

Veteran Leader

Veteran Leader grants the following to OTHER friendly ExampleModel, ExampleModel2, ExampleModel3 models within 10 inches of this model (see below). Veteran Leader can stack with Leadership, since they are different abilities.

Abilities/bonuses gained:

a random thing

Or, we can do this to override the category description, and use our own:
{{AbilityLeadership|main=Veteran Leader|override=Whenever a whatever model is nearby during the maintenance phase, it gains three focus. }}

Veteran LeaderWhenever a whatever model is nearby during the maintenance phase, it gains three focus.

Variables

  • main=Leadership: The switch here is to use "Veteran Leader" or "Leadership" with this template.
  • model1 through model4: You can have up to 4 different models. Later, this should link to the model type with a switch (like modellink=y, where y means link to a page, and default should not link to a page).
  • d: The distance. Use the "inches" unit. It could easily be "CTRL" in the future, as it has been CMD in the past.
  • sub1 through sub4: You can have multiple things happen with an ability. Maybe Leadership hands out Pathfinder and Dodge. You can name both abilitites.
  • sub1a through sub4a: These flag an ability as "cat" or "text". If it's a "cat", it will add a hyperlink to the category. Otherwise, "text" is used to just write a sentence.
  • override: If you use this, it only calls the title of the Leadership ability, and formats a table entry for the text you provide. It can be used for those odd one-offs, where the format of the leadership ability isn't in the "while within x inches, this model gains that ability."
