  • Road to Texicon ’17 Madrak 3, V3

    I’m still thinking Madrak 3 should by my primary list.  Last weekend I had a 2v2 Khador/Trollblood vs Cryx/Skorne with a few guys at one of the LGS.  We ended up splitting the space so that I could face off with the Cryx army, who placed most of their forces opposite me, except for a unit of ghost pirates who took the flank on the other side of the Skorne forces.   During the game, the Mauler ends up doing hardly anything.  It kills ooff a light jack in like one hit, without even having Rage running.  I suppose it

  • Borka2 vs Haley2, 35ish points

    I convinced my teenaged daughter to play a little war machine last week.  She likes the electrically charged Cygnar Storm Callers.  They remind her of the “Girl Genius” comic.  So I explained Haley’s powers as a spark and showed her the Storm Strider with the callers and their crazy hair.   • War Wagon CID

    I tried the war wagon with CID rules, and went from “yay” to “nay.” In the two games I played this week, the wagon was just plain outmaneuvered. The idea of making multiple impact attacks is good.  It worked well with the slamming impact attacks, or even with the bulldozing, although the language issues with the rules caused some problems with infinite attacks or order of event confusion. I hope that the final version allows for some way to push models while still being able to impact models.  There could be a limit placed similar to Bulldoze that says a

    We played a 75 point Steamroller game, Mercs vs Trolls.  We tested with the intent of abusing the Fuel Cache and to evaluate the terrain placement rules.  We also discussed the measuring issue.   I played Trolls, My opponent ran Mercs, and I rolled initiative,  choosing to deploy second.   • Bearka Night

    Bearka 35 pointer The guys at the local store didn’t want to play 75 tonight, in an effort to get more games in and try some new dudes out.  I’ve struggled with rumble and small point Steamroller due to the support I’ve felt is needed with the Troll army.  I also get stuck on model count.  In general, the number of models trolls bring to the table at x points is fewer than other factions.  I’ve read many complaints about how unfair and unbalanced that feels, but I don’t believe the math supports the feeling of unbalance.  I’ll write about

  • Jarl Skuld into Khador

    Jarl may have the ability to stop some ranged attacks and even hold back a charge with his smoke cloud feat, but I have trouble when dealing with Khador after the stall.
