• Road to Texicon, Ragnor

    Ragnor Lothbrok Not quite. He’s Ragnor Skysplitter, the Runemaster, and he’s Madrak’s pairing for day one of Texicon.  I considered taking the Borka2 list, but I feel like Ragnor has a touch more punch.  His feat affects all attacks, and reduces enemy punch by a whole die.  With the stone running, we have ARM 21 beasts and 1 less die on the feat turn. Pulverizer gives +2 and beat back, and when combined with the stone elder and Rage, we have a POW19 Slag Troll, POW 21 Earthborn, POW 25 Mountain King, and yes, even the Winter troll becomes POW

  • Road to Texicon, Borka2

    I love this model!  Why don’t I run him more often?  Honestly, I do not know.  I think it stems from one of my early losses with him, where my opponent simply backs up and waits for my feat to expire, then hacks out some sort of assassination run.   • Minion Friendly Trollblood Warlocks

    Trollblood with Minions? Yes.  With the themes of Mk3, and the tendency of Trollbloods to be outright racist, the internet seems to have forgotten that some minions will actually work for Trollbloods.  Unfortunately,  no minions, not even the trollkin or adoptive trollkin models are partisan.  That means we can’t apply feats or spells that specify “Friendly Faction” models. What to we do with that limitation?  We min-max.  Which warlocks work best with minions in their army?  Do we have any warlocks that actually make minions a good choice?  How do we fit these potentially powerful sell-swords into our forces?   • Road to Texicon ’17 Madrak 3, V3

    I’m still thinking Madrak 3 should by my primary list.  Last weekend I had a 2v2 Khador/Trollblood vs Cryx/Skorne with a few guys at one of the LGS.  We ended up splitting the space so that I could face off with the Cryx army, who placed most of their forces opposite me, except for a unit of ghost pirates who took the flank on the other side of the Skorne forces.   During the game, the Mauler ends up doing hardly anything.  It kills ooff a light jack in like one hit, without even having Rage running.  I suppose it

  • Borka2 vs Haley2, 35ish points

    I convinced my teenaged daughter to play a little war machine last week.  She likes the electrically charged Cygnar Storm Callers.  They remind her of the “Girl Genius” comic.  So I explained Haley’s powers as a spark and showed her the Storm Strider with the callers and their crazy hair.   • Northkin Shaman

    I painted up my Northkin Shaman twinsies this week. It was long overdue, as they’ve proven their worth in multiple games under Power of Dhunia. Tactics I’ve learned that they work well in a pair, creating 6” of cloud cover for Jarl to hide behind before his feat turn, and they have a 5” teleport to move them out of the clouds so they can take cover or pop up nearby.   • Horgle2, Three Games and Three Lists

    I tried Horgle into three different guys at 75, 35 and 75 points, in and out of theme.  I don’t have a good grasp of this guy.  He has a potentially powerful feat, providing everything is on fire before his feat.  He has a good Armor buff spell, and Solid Ground is pretty awesome.  His 3 point spell, consuming flames is better cast by the Trollkin Runebearer, aka “Troll Moses,” since he probably wants to keep solid ground running, needs to be at least 12″ from combat, and might want the inviolable resolve running as well.  That means he can

  • Kriel Warriors, part 1

    Many verbal internet aware Trollblood players seem to hate the Kriel Warriors. I think it isn’t so much a hate of the unit, so much as a hate toward change. The game got rebalanced, and even after a year, people struggle with the rebalancing. The warriors lost their prayers, as the most salty troll players will remind us constantly.
