  • Jarl Skuld update

I’ve been playing Jarl Skuld in friendly games at the game stores lately.  As stated before, I like him.  He isn’t overpowering, and his play requires a little forethought, but I’m starting to feel out how to unpack his army more efficiently. I do have some observations based on some of my recent games that I need to note (in hopes that I won’t forget the hard lessons). 1.  Jarl into Retribution of Scyrah’s Adeptis Rahn: If Jarl needs to take out a solo, go for it.  Get him up on Janissa’s hill, throw him the Quicken Defense buff, but

  • Troll progress report

Jarl Skuld I’ve had a few friendly games, mostly 1v1v1 or other group games with a small number of Steamroller style.  Jarl has done well each time he’s been fielded. The last game had Jarl overseeing a Bomber, two Impalers and a Mauler.  I left the stone behind, threw in some Warders, Scatter Gunners  and a Bushwhacker unit.  The Gunners got popped by Khador and Widowmakers,  with the Warders taking a couple hits to prolong the shooting until the Gunners could close range. One of the Impalers got lucky with a boosted hit, knocking back a Skorne Titan, then Jarl

  • Gunnbjorn List

I have so many models to assemble for Gunny.  My only huge based model at the moment, the War Wagon, still sits in its foam, broken from shipping. • Grissel 1 List

For 2017, I’m going to run Trollbloods exclusively.   I’m going to tweak my lists as I go, hopefully figuring out what works.  I’m not going to get stuck on any one caster, so I will rotate among the ones I own, and pick up a few more along the way.  With 17 casters, including variations, I plan on picking up ten games with each to give me 170 games by the end of 2017.  I’m off to a good start, but won’t count the first few games I’ve played already, since they were more about refreshing my understanding of

  • Test driving Trolls

I’ve had the opportunity to test out a few concepts, to include variations on the Band of Heroes Theme. So far,  I’ve played two games vs Skorne and one vs Mercenaries, then last Saturday played Grissel into Protectorate of Menoth,  Cryx and another Skorne plauer.  The initial two Skorne games were different melee lists, one with cavalry and one beast heavy.  The Mercs could have been any faction, but felt like a Stryker 1 knockdown ranged assassination with Grievous solos being the main threat. From what I’ve seen,  my troll armies have a problem dealing with the Grievous Wounds caster

  • Fennblades vs Khador Units

What to do with the Fennblades I can’t tell what these guys want to do.  Who should I throw them into?  Can they do well into armor? Are they supposed to be a front line or retaliatory unit? I’ve decided to pit them against a slew of Khador units to see how they perform. I’m skipping weapon crews, since I’m fairly certain that once the Fenn arrive, they’re sure to kill the bastards with their oversized swords. I’m going to use the Odds Machine for calculating probability to kill.  Depending on the hour of the evening, I may make mistakes.  Send

  • Borka Kegslayer

My first Trollblood Warlock, Borka Kegslayer will lead my army to victory. Why run Borka? Besides the fact that he’s a drunken troll bent on brawling or boinking? Well, he has the ability to bring the pain on his own, and he makes a deadly army deadlier. On his own, he can bash most casters to a pulp. Imagine he’s found himself within 11″ of Stryker, and Stryker’s already burnt his feat, and has no focus left. Borka’s friend tops him off, giving the Kegslayer a whopping 7 fury. Borka casts mosh pit for 3, and his weapons have knockdown.

  • Beth’s E-Leap of Faith

Time for my Major Beth Maddox list. I’m going lightning heavy.  A little crazy,  but I really want a Storm Knight combined arms thing.  I know this list doesn’t seem to play into her strengths, since my hits feel low compared to the Hammer spam or Ironclad spam I’ve seen tossed around.  It also doesn’t include Ragman.  I figure with all the lightning thrown about, he is likely to be hit during the first wave.  So he doesn’t belong here.  He can hang out with the Sword Knights in another list. Cygnar – Beth’s E-Leap of faith 74 / 75

  • Analysis on Siege1

Major Markus “Siege” Brisbane: Nobody plays Siege! According to the internet, the only casters I should be using are Haley, Caine and Sloane.  My problem with that is my affinity toward the Trenchers and my love for heavy artillery.  In Mk2, I played the Big Guns theme list and bought extra journeyman casters for the Trial by Fire list.  When Mk3 came out, I was irritated by the change to Explosivo, and irked by the Combat Engineer ability that will go unused for some time.  Who releases a rule that only affects something that hasn’t been released yet?  With the
