• Siege vs Karchev, Rumble

I only played one game last weekend. It was a 35 point Rumble with Holden added to bring our total up to 39 points. We rolled for scenario, and then realized the Prime and Primal scenarios weren’t exactly rumble friendly. We rolled Hold the Line, but got rid of the center flag. I went first, setting my Trenchers out dug in with their advanced deploy. Khador deployed their Widowmakers next. Then I advanced my battlegroup onto the field, layed down a Foxhole I hoped to take (and to mark range for my Ground Pounder). Unfortunately, the Arcane Tempest Rifleman can’t

  • Siege vs Karchev the Terrible

I threw an abbreviated version of my 75 point Siege list at Khador’s Karchev the Terrible last Sunday.  We played a 35 point Rumble, and I opted to take the trencher infantry, a Grenadier,  Rangers, Triumph, Finn, and I think I took a Hunter as well.  Unfortunately,  I didn’t take any pictures of this match, and I was just starting to use warroom, so I neglected to copy Khador’s list.  The way I remember,  he fielded widow makers and Kodiak, Devastator, Juggernaut,  Destroyer and a winter guard cannon.  I lost my Rifleman to the widows, and had trouble closing with

  • Analysis on Siege1

Major Markus “Siege” Brisbane: Nobody plays Siege! According to the internet, the only casters I should be using are Haley, Caine and Sloane.  My problem with that is my affinity toward the Trenchers and my love for heavy artillery.  In Mk2, I played the Big Guns theme list and bought extra journeyman casters for the Trial by Fire list.  When Mk3 came out, I was irritated by the change to Explosivo, and irked by the Combat Engineer ability that will go unused for some time.  Who releases a rule that only affects something that hasn’t been released yet?  With the

  • Dragon’s Lair 50 point Steambath

Steambath… a relaxed steamroller? The format was supposed to be 50 point Steamroller with Deathclock. It turned into a 50-point pseudo-Steamroller. There were no turn limits and the game time was reduced to 40 minutes total. So the games were really, really short. The tables were set up each with a different scenario, and the scenario was static on the table. We were also allowed to use limited release models, so I ran Jakes 2. The less competitive nature led to some learning opportunities, but the condensed time meant a lot of games were tied. Game 1 My first game

  • Defender (Trencher Version) Day 2

Trenchers & Defenders Why? Siege & Triumph Originally, I was going to repaint another of my Defenders with the trencher colors and outfit him with Triumph’s gear.  I like how the old models have the swan on the cortex door, and felt the added flair would make a nice focus for the model. Big Guns I honestly can’t decide how I want to play the list. Either I’m going to run trenchers and a Defender or two, or I’m going to go with his other list and run the Defender & Triumph under Siege and throw a whole lot of

  • Major Markus Siege Brisbane

Finally Completed Warcaster Major Markus Siege Brisbane Painting I’ve put more paint than I wanted to on this model.  After clearing my desk, I realized I forgot to add his gun, and so I had to both glue the gun to his strap and do some more touch-up.  I decided early on that I wanted him to match my trenchers, since I plan on playing him with the “Big Guns” theme.  That’s the one where you can take a ton of Chain Guns or Cannons along with your trenchers.  More on list selection later.  Essentially,  I started by basecoating Dark

  • Major Markus Siege Brisbane Day 4

Finally ready for play.  I finished by touching up his cloth and leather pieces with Vallejo Model Color 70.819 Iraqi Sand.  I think it has a nice bright color that contrasts nicely with the dark blues I’m using.  Next, I tried to correct any accidental brush marks, and finished by applying Vallejo Model Color Prussian Blue to the base.
