• Decimator

The Good, the Bad… Stat line and weapons The Decimator is one of the more expensive Khador warjacks.   It has the same Stat line as the Juggernaut and Destroyer and other similar jacks (Khador jack makers reuse this frame all over the place). Like most of Khador’s jacks, the Decimator moves at a snail’s pace (SPD 4), but fights well when it eventually arrives.  Instead of an axe, the Decimator is outfitted with a rip saw.  The saw doesn’t do as much damage as the Juggernaut axe, but it does as much as the Destroyer (P&S 17). Instead of

  • No Quarter Prime 1: Urban Ambush

In the back pages of the new No Quarter Prime magazine from Privateer Press, three Trencher themed scenarios offer some narrative-style gameplay.  Each scenario offers a method of winning outside of the normal Steamroller packet, and includes terrain options that push players outside their normal six piece comfort level. Scenario Elements The Urban Ambush scenario offers a moving capture the flag style game with no warcaster or warlock to muck things up.  Deployment areas and terrain selection helps sell the idea of a group of reinforcements carrying a small but valuable package to a nearby encampment.  The reinforcements win if

  • Texicon 2017 Day 1, Borka2 vs Butcher3

Butcher3 or Vlad 1.  Either way, I had just played two Madrak games in a row, and his army wasn’t feeling very strong into Khador.  I think it needs a Mauler. So I picked up the bear and vowed not to throw away the wagon.  First turn, I should have played slower.  Turn 2, I could have feated.  As it was, I wound up facing a top of turn 2 assassination. So I found myself cramped in, Borka repositioned behind the wall.  I wish I had feated.  But I didn’t think he would make a run at the beginning of

  • Texicon 2017 Day 1, Madrak3 vs Butcher3

The second Khador player I ran against presented Butcher 3 and Strakov 2. I had never played into Strakov or the third Butcher, and figured the Fennblades could take the impacts from the pikemen.   So I picked Madrak3.  He picked Butcher, and I did a quick read on his abilities.  There weren’t a lot of ways to score, and I knew I needed to keep the Butcher at bay. The blurry photo illustrates how I tried to screen with fennblades and other meat, while presenting a retaliatory threat if the Butcher tries to move in. The meat falls to

  • Texicon 2017 Day 1, Madrak3 vs Vlad1

I hate getting clocked.  So much so that it affected how I played the second game.  It’s weird, because I designed the Madrak3 list knowing the meat would require lots of time for my opponent to cut through. I played well, spacing out, and claiming the zone.  However, I should have dominated the flag.  Instead, I swarmed the center, took out his objective, and led by a few points.  If I had run over to the flag, I could have won the race to 5. He did manage to put zone pressure on me, with the armor.  But it took

  • Jarl Skuld into Khador

Jarl may have the ability to stop some ranged attacks and even hold back a charge with his smoke cloud feat, but I have trouble when dealing with Khador after the stall. In this version of Jarl, I try out the Bomber, and leave most of the POD list intact. • Fennblades vs Khador Units

What to do with the Fennblades I can’t tell what these guys want to do.  Who should I throw them into?  Can they do well into armor? Are they supposed to be a front line or retaliatory unit? I’ve decided to pit them against a slew of Khador units to see how they perform. I’m skipping weapon crews, since I’m fairly certain that once the Fenn arrive, they’re sure to kill the bastards with their oversized swords. I’m going to use the Odds Machine for calculating probability to kill.  Depending on the hour of the evening, I may make mistakes.  Send

  • Beth vs The Butcher

I didn’t expect this opponent to bring Khador. He is a scorned Skorne player, who is still trying to figure out where he fits into Mk3. I haven’t really played against him, so I wasn’t sure how he’d react to the two huge bases. Being a vet, he wasn’t intimidated. My list was the Mad Wall, as discussed in an earlier post. • Siege vs Karchev, Rumble

I only played one game last weekend. It was a 35 point Rumble with Holden added to bring our total up to 39 points. We rolled for scenario, and then realized the Prime and Primal scenarios weren’t exactly rumble friendly. We rolled Hold the Line, but got rid of the center flag. I went first, setting my Trenchers out dug in with their advanced deploy. Khador deployed their Widowmakers next. Then I advanced my battlegroup onto the field, layed down a Foxhole I hoped to take (and to mark range for my Ground Pounder). Unfortunately, the Arcane Tempest Rifleman can’t

  • Siege vs Karchev the Terrible

I threw an abbreviated version of my 75 point Siege list at Khador’s Karchev the Terrible last Sunday.  We played a 35 point Rumble, and I opted to take the trencher infantry, a Grenadier,  Rangers, Triumph, Finn, and I think I took a Hunter as well.  Unfortunately,  I didn’t take any pictures of this match, and I was just starting to use warroom, so I neglected to copy Khador’s list.  The way I remember,  he fielded widow makers and Kodiak, Devastator, Juggernaut,  Destroyer and a winter guard cannon.  I lost my Rifleman to the widows, and had trouble closing with
