Blighted Nyss Swordsmen & Unit Attachment
After finishing this unit, I will almost be finished with my daughter’s Legion of Everblight models. I hate painting units. So I originally attempted to spend as little time as possible on these guys, but ended up wasting a whole day watching the adventures of “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitt” on Netflix and painting this unit. I followed the same pattern as Saeryn and Rhyas and gave their skin a nice undercoat of white.
Verdigris glaze atop the white added an unearthly skin color. Turns out, Verdigris refers to the color that copper turns when acid eats away at it. So old copper pennies and such. Maybe I’ll remember this if I ever paint a copper something in the future.
Their bone protrusions were painted Grey Green, pants painted German Camouflage Beige and armor plates Bronze. If this sounds like I’m plagiarizing myself from last update, then congratulations. You caught me, I am definitely copying my own technique and writing.
Only the abbot wore robes, so he got to borrow something out of Saeryn’s closet (although it definitely covered more skin).
After a few hours of touching up, and a failed experiment with green wash (that I couldn’t completely undo), I added sparkle with some silver and came up with the final result.
